Possible use of Rashi script for the title text began in chat with Jin, the designer, here: oh btw, feedback from a Jewish friend of mine: "I think adding מי יודע (mi yode'a) in Hebrew to the logo might have a good effect on people. You might want to consider Rashi Script, both because it's more stylized and because some (very religious) people might ...

status-planned Body font It looks like the body font for questions is sans serif, unlike our current serif font. That makes a huge difference for legibility of Hebrew, as has been previously discussed on Meta.SE. I understood from the discussion there (and here) that we were not going to suffer a decline in legibility, so I hope this is just an easily-...

status-review (Please excuse the following charged language. I understand why you have to do this and that you understand that you're treading on designs people have come to love. That said:) You've mangled Jin's question-mark-tree! The logo at the top currently includes a brown circle beneath it, which doubles as the dot at the bottom of the question-...

status-planned Header Thank you for the preview and the opportunity to comment. The contrast between the the Hebrew מי יודע and the background is poor. On the current site, that text sits on top of the logo (hence the lighter text color) and the background is lightened (avoiding poor contrast). Here the background color is constant but the text isn't ...

status-completed Visited links are really hard to distinguish from unvisited ones on the front page. Look at the screen shot in this answer. Can you tell which question I'd visited? With a lot of squinting I can, but compare it to the difference here: Can we increase the difference between the two link colors? I understand if the two colors need to ...

Without diminishing the importance of any of the point-criticisms in the other answers, I would like to thank you for your efforts to preserve as much as you can of Jin's beautiful design in the new framework. If I were to wake up one morning and find the site switched over to this design without warning, I'd still feel like I was in the right place.

status-completed The pop-up Hebrew Keyboard looks worse now, with the labels for the buttons hanging off of the buttons: Compare with how it looked when this feature was launched: I see that the new look for the keyboard applies whether I have "Beta test new themes" turned on or not. I don't know how long it's been around for. Maybe it's related to this ...

accessibility status-completed I'm finding links really hard to see. Look at this: "Gemara" in the first line is a link, which I can only tell by underlining -- the font color looks the same to me. This is true for both visited and unvisited links. A bigger problem comes in comments -- Al Berko's name there looks just like comments from deleted users ...

This should now be fixed in the next build. Thanks for reporting!

I see now that two other SE communities, Health and Law, have professional advice disclaimers in the top-right corners of their front pages: This would seem to be the right place to put our disclaimer. The text of our disclaimer should be what we already have in our Tour, as that's the product of years of slow evolution and community scrutiny: Like ...

status-completed Is tag color fixed across the network? Maybe it's just the shock of a change and I'll get used to it in a week, but the bright blue tags seem a little out of place on our background. Compare the tags to the more muted -- but still visible -- highlighting of the "active" tab: Update: Apparently the tag color is not fixed; here's what they ...

status-completed - Comments are now rendered in Serif font. ~Catija I like the fact that question and answer posts got their serif font back, however, the rest of the screen retains its sans-serif font, which makes it a little dizzying for me to read. Also, comments use Hebrew too, so I think it would make sense for them to also have the serif font. ...

This should be fixed now, it will be live after our next production build.

Underlining pointed Hebrew in links is not good (example from here): One solution could be to have a different colour underline, as shown here on lifehacker.com, see MSE proposal.

We had this request (for linking the Hebrew Mi Yodeya text on the top right to the homepage) come up a couple of weeks ago - would anyone on your end be able to issue a fix/update that incorporates it? Thanks!

Sorry about that. I have a fix ready and queued up for deployment to production. Unfortunately, our full prod builds are currently blocked on testing a major infrastructure change. That should clear up sometime between later today and end of tomorrow, but I don't have a specific time at the moment. In the meantime, I apologize for the annoyance and the ...

I'm adding underline on links to make them pop out more (only on meta). It will be live after our next production build.

Quoting from this answer on MSE: We rolled out a new image uploader today. Unfortunately, the design was targeted at the new-design sites only, and so the image uploader stopped working (at all) on the old-design sites. In a hurry to get the image uploader working, we grafted the new image uploader styles to the old base styles. This had some of the side ...

When you click on the Questions link, the page you get shows a set of links above the list of questions -- featured, active, unanswered, etc. If you click on one of those it filters the view accordingly. It appears that this selection is sticky; if you select "unanswered", for example (441 at this writing), and then go back to the main site and click "...

Not a bug but a request: In the old design that gray bar was a light cream color, similar to the events block at right. (I think it was a little lighter -- maybe the color of post notices?) That color fit in better with the other warm colors on the site, to my eye; the gray clashes a bit. Is this color available for customization? If so, would you ...

status-bydesign This is by design. These are absolutely lovely touches that really do make the sites unique but, sadly, they also add to the complexity of the sites and have been removed. ~Catija The new design lost the "decorations" in the header and on question titles. Was that intentional? I mean these: This decoration added character evocative of ...

No one is exactly sure, but see this Meta.SE post to better understand the background, how to disable it/re-enable it, and some speculation on whether or not it has to do with April Fools. (It still appears on Mi Yodeya today, but apparently April Fools stuff is buffered by 24h in each direction on SE.)

Thanks for reporting. Fix for this bug is ready and should be up on site in couple hours. Consider this as status-completed.

You seem to be in a different tab of the Questions menu. When you click Questions from the main page, just above the listing of questions you should see: Newest: the newest asked questions Featured: questions with current bounties FAQ: popular historic questions Votes: questions with the most votes Active: questions with recent activity (similar to the main ...

I brought this up to Jin in Chat. He recommended: since the poster is earthy tones, I think a maroon/dark brown frame will look nice with the poster He then Googled a bit and came up with a nice possibility on Etsy. Etsy's nice, since vendors on it offer distinctive crafts, are frequently open to customization requests, and frequently charge very ...
